The Thomas Gray Archive search engine is a supplementary tool to locate one or more words or a phrase in the poems, commentary, or full-texts of primary or secondary works, and to retrieve a result set with highlighted hits for quick access. All words entered in the text field are search terms, no stop-word list is in effect. The collection pull-down menu allows you to select the body of materials you wish to search: poems (English or Latin), the different varieties of variants, notes and queries, or the corpora of printed primary or secondary works. You can connect the search terms with boolean operators ("all the words" or AND, "any word" or OR) or as a string ("exact phrase") in the query options pull-down menu. You may also wish to specify case sensitivity. The search tool allows you to perform "wildcard" searches, i.e. searches with placeholders for a letter or letters in a word: the "?" (one character) and "*" (any number of characters) wildcards are supported. You can also specify result display options. Please see this Help Desk section for more information.
